Laine McCrory

I am currently a Doctoral Student at New York University in the department of Media, Culture and Communication , where my research focusses on community-centered tech advocacy, development and activism while integrating concepts from feminist theory and science and technology studies.

I aim to create sociopolitical critiques of communication technologies from that grow from the perspectives of science and technology scholars – past and present

My objects of study are multiple and varied – AI policy, platforms, civic tech initiatives, activist movements, and more. Ultimately, I unite these areas within a methodology that challenges traditional practices in the tech world that ignore the importance of collective participation.
